JPJ Implements MyLesen Programme In All States, Beginning April

BAGAN DATOH, Feb 16 (Bernama) -- Beginning April, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) will implement the MyLesen programme in every state to enable more people to have motorcycle licences.

JPJ director-general Datuk Seri Ismail Ahmad said under the programme, the department would introduce the Driver's Education Curriculum for a clearer and more objective new first stage test which would also have a different syllabus from the old one.

"The JPJ will work with driving schools to implement the programme for three months in the states. Each state will conduct a MyLesen programme pilot project," he said.

Ismail was speaking to reporters after attending a closing ceremony of the 1Komuniti 1JPJ (SKSJ) in the Bagan Datoh parliamentary constituency at the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Khir Johari.

The event was officiated by Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi here today.

Ismail said currently, there were about 3.35 million people aged 16 and above nationwide who did not have a licence to drive any vehicle.

He said besides MyLesen, RTD would also launch the Kadet JPJ programme in schools, beginning April, to educate the younger generation about road safety issues.
