Khan was ringside to watch Mayweather beat Argentine hardman Marcos Maidana in Las Vegas on Saturday – the 47th straight victory of his unbeaten career. The American great has suggested that he may only fight twice more, and two victories would bring him level with Rocky Marciano’s perfect record of 49 out of 49. Manny Pacquiao is the man many want him to face, but Mayweather Snr is quoted by Boxing News 24 as saying: “More than likely it won’t be Pacquiao. I would say Amir Khan is No 1 on the list, but that’s still not even permanent. “There’s still a few other fighters out there. I can’t say who’s permanent unless they ask for it.” Khan taunted Mayweather in the aftermath of the Maidana win, saying: "After seeing him win I believe I will beat him. "Floyd, as we all know, isn't the biggest puncher. His footwork has slowed down, he only throws single punches and gets hit a lot more.
