RM3.5m In Gift For Newborns In Kedah

SUNGAI PETANI: Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir fulfilled Kedah Barisan Nasional pledges during the 13th General Election by distributing newborn kit worth RM100 for babies born in the state since Jan 1st this year.
Mukhriz said the state government had allocated RM3.5 million for the gift for all newborns in the Kedah in appreciation of the parents.
"We are delighted to deliver the promise made to the voters in Kedah during the 13th General Election and we hope this will be a meaningful gift for the parents and their child.
"We hope more parents will apply as the gift is open to all newborns regardless of the parents' income bracket," he said after handing over the kit to the parents of 25 babies from Sungai Petani constituency here today.
Mukhriz said the RM3.5 million allocation for the programme was based on an average of 35,000 newborns in the state annually.
Present was state Welfare, Women and Family Development and Agricultural and Agro-based committee chairman Datuk Suraya Yaacob.
The programme is open to parents from Kedah or those who had resided in the state for more than five years, whose babies were born on Jan 1st 2014 onwards.
The application form is available at any district office, district Welfare Department office, state assemblyman and member of parliament service centre or via online atwww.ika.kedahdarulaman.gov.my
