- Bernama

Nurul Izzah (pic) filed an application for custody of her daughter, aged seven, and son, aged four, at the Kuala Lumpur Shariah High Court today, Malaysiakini reported.
Judge Amran Mat Zain fixed June 17 for her husband Raja Ahmad Shahrir Iskandar Raja Salim to officially appoint lawyers to represent him in the custody case, as he is currently overseas.
Nurul Izzah had filed an application to divorce her husband of 11 years on January 22 at the Lower Shariah Court under Section 47 (amicable divorce) of the Islamic Family Law (Federal Territories) Act 1984.
On April 1, Nurul Izzah and Raja Ahmad Shahrir were ordered by the Lower Shariah Court toappoint members for a reconciliation committee over their divorce case.
Lower Shariah Court judge Ab Malek Awang then fixed June 12 for the presentation of a report on the reconciliation committee's decision on the outcome of discussion.
According to Malaysiakini, the reconciliation committee chaired by the shariah officer is supposed to submit a report to the Lower Shariah Court on the possibility of the couple's reconciliation.
If the reconciliation committee fails to come to a decision, the court will appoint a hakam or arbitrator. – May 29, 2014.

Woman and Mother should have prior preference for kids below 18 yrs custody, as men not known to be able to do house works and child care. There should be no need to fight over kids. When kids turn 18 above, then it's up to them as they are adults but most likely grown ups prefer to be independent and stay with neither father nor mother.
